Gametraders stores are becoming social hangouts

Gametraders will increase the size of some of its stores and rebrand them "Gametraders Live" in the hope they will become a social place for gamers to hangout.

It sounds very Games Workshop.

The revamp will see stores transformed into social hubs with food and drinks, comfortable couches and presumably games to play, reports MCV.

"For Gametraders' customers this means not only video games and a broad range of pop culture and Cosplay outfits and accessories, but is also offering in-store trading card, Warhammer and gaming tournaments, plus Anime and Cosplay events," said Gametraders boss Mark Langford.

The first Gametraders Live store will open in Penrith, New South Wales, this Saturday.

    Actually agreed with Chucky there.

    ...

    [sick]

Anyway, at least the geeksville part. I dunno what is it with me and hating to hang out with my kind but it's because I'd ****ing hate hanging out with my kind. Seriously, they are most social awkward as **** people that love saying memes outloud while they're wearing their infamous horse head. There's this guy at my uni that misheard me and thought I said "video games suck" which he almost blew a vein. I thought, wow, you're either a goddamn moron or think you have the balls to pick a fight with someone that may or may not have insulted your precious hobby. People like that remind me why I shudder at these kinds of hangouts.

At least when it comes to cons, you can easily avoid them since they're scattered around the darkest corners.

    nerds are socially awkward
    around people who aren't nerds
    and in shitty environments
so if you stuff them all into a gametraders with couches
    they won't be socially awkward
shit, it's like people don't even know basic psychology

There are 2 levels, nerds and geeks.

level 1 = Nerds. They are pretty much just your everyday gamer who likes technology and anything to do with it, yet are just as sociable as any other person

level 2 = Geek. Very quiet, barely sociable, normally have bum fluff, not an actual beard but bum fluff that looks literally gross. Oily hair. Anything to do with those RPG board games pretty much makes them happy in their pants. They do not know how to talk to anyone else but there own kind in there own language. They are the ones who say memes out loud and think it sounds really intelligent making it a really awkward moment.

according to Chucky110 I am a level 1 gamer... although it is fun to sneak up and say boo to the level 2 gamers when they venture out from their home to purchase more games... good times

But MMGN is a place where people hang out and talk about games and start up games nights.

    Does that make MMGN geeksville?

Are you therefore a geek? [MOG]

Anyone been in a games workshop recently? Its usually store full of white people who hate me because I can't remember the 40,000 individual values off by heart, not to mention their prices are outrageous.

There is no way games traders can be that bad.

    Wow that is hate full,
    I play 40k
    I shampoo
Can grow a beard but I shave for work
I have the capacity to talk different types of people
    I never say memes
I like pop culture and all that fun stuff but it does not control me.

It's not like I go to the trouble of putting on makeup and dressing like a batman villain and put it as my dp for everyone to see.

    GAMERS are Gamers.

Wow, you're not very accepting of people with different hobbies, are you?
  • chucky110 35490 XP 18/09/2013
Yea I am actually. I accept that they do them and they have general terms to describe them. Just because they are geeks, doesn't mean I don't accept their hobbies. You walk the streets at night looking for sex, you are a hooker. You have a lot of random sex with whoever, you are a slut, both similar just does more than the other
  • Harry 76780 XP 18/09/2013
There's a difference between saying "you walk the streets at night looking for sex, you are a hooker" and "all girls who wear short girls are sluts"... The latter is essentially what you're saying by grouping all gamers into two categories of people, or by saying all anime-fans are geeks.
  • chucky110 35490 XP 18/09/2013
Yes I am, though that has nothing to do with not accepting them
  • Leasha 86782 XP 18/09/2013
    HEY

I don't have a beard on my neck and I pretty much worship Dawkins :P

I'm also a chick so the argument is invalid cos everyone wants to hang with me.
  • Harry 76780 XP 18/09/2013

chucky110 said: Yes I am, though that has nothing to do with not accepting them

By grouping them into very generic (and insulting) labels, you're showing you don't accept their hobby for their hobby... Why does someone who enjoys have to be a geek? Why can't they just be someone who enjoys anime?
  • Silence 79861 XP 18/09/2013

Completely wrong, putting a label on someone and not accepting/accepting are do not go together. Just because people are geeks or nerds so what. Nothing to do with acceptance.
