Though we've been getting the sense that developers don't seem all that interested in developing for the Wii U, Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli explained in an interview that it wasn't because of them that Crysis 3 failed to materialize on the platform. In an interview with VentureBeat, Yerli reveals that a version of the game had been running on Wii U hardware.

"We did have Crysis 3 running on the Wii U. We were very close to launching it. But there was a lack of business support between Nintendo and EA on that. Since we as a company couldn’t launch on the Wii U ourselves — we don’t have a publishing license — Crysis 3 on Wii U had to die"

The fallout between EA and Nintendo is going to have some consequences for Wii U owners. Unfortunatley we're going to get pretty minimal support. Hell they are not even bringing the next Madden to Wii U. No biggie for us Aussies but for the U.S that's HUGE! and despite the Wii version of Tiger Woods outselling the others there's no version of that coming to Wii U either. To have Crysis 3 up and running and nearly complete on the Wii U but then cancel it out of spite is completely sucks. I'd like to not buy EA games in the future but that would be punishing the devs for their publishers B.S. ecspecially as Critereon is actually putting in some effort for the upcoming NFS port. EA, you SUCK! [Shifty]

That's disappointing, but we all know EA are money hungry that's all they care about.

Look, we didn't get the game, but at least we know our little beasts can run that mammoth title from one of the best graphical engines in the world.

I wonder how it would have looked compared to the other consoles. Having the ability to modify your gun options (ammo, silencer etc) on the fly using the GamePad would have been awesome.

I am surprised it was possible but still very happy that it could! Hopefully this type of support (from the devs) continues! Hoping to grab most of third party titles on the Wii U!

SO in other words, EA does not think the Wii U crowd would buy Crysis 3.

    Not good for Wii U.

Time to either make original IP, or taken established brands and make Wii U spin-off exclusives.

Did they think we would buy Mass Effect 3 after announcing the Trilogy was coming to the other consoles? What about feature lacking versions of FIFA and Madden? Who the hell over at EA makes these decisions?

So if they cancelled that what about Most Wanted?

It's still coming in March. Criterion have actually made an effort too and have improved it for the Wii U version. I just hope like hell it sells well or EA might just cancel everything.

I'm reading up on the differences now, the the screenshots are anything to go by, the Wii U version blows the PS3 and 360 versions out of the water. they reckon it's on par with the PC version

Yep. As I said I really hope Wii U owners support it and reward Criterion for making an effort and not just slapping a straight port on to the Wii U.

I will get this. Those screen shot differences look amazing.

Not interested in NFS and I would suggest most Wii U owners probably won't be either.

First EA, then Acitvision will follow suit. Not looking good for us Wii U owners.
