Aussie gamers have a love affair with PlayStation. Just don't tell that other brand about it.
PlayStation Australia today revealed that in 2013 the PlayStation range held for the third year running the top sales position in the interactive entertainment category.
On top of that, the PlayStation 3 was the highest-selling console for the year, also for the third straight year.
NPD Group Australia also revealed that the PS4 had overtaken the Xbox One in the sales stakes, making it the most popular next-generation console as stock becomes more readily available in the country, topping off a wonderful trifecta for the company.
“It has been an enormous 12 months for PlayStation in Australia,” said Michael Ephraim, Managing Director, Sony Computer Entertainment Australia.
The results reflect how passionate Aussie gamers are about the PlayStation brand, according to Ephraim.
"The arrival of PS4 at the end of 2013 has further strengthened the love affair Australian gamers have with PlayStation. PS4 has been an astronomic success in Australia; a story that is replicated around the globe. As the world’s most powerful home console, PS4 truly represents the next generation in gaming and will help keep the PlayStation brand at the pinnacle for a long time to come."
