See this face? This is what my face should look like when I think about Thursday. No, not because Desperate Housewives is on Channel 7, but because Sony's next-generation handheld gaming unit is poised to launch upon the Australian public.
But guess what folks? My face looks a little more like this.....
Why you may ask? Because who really cares about the launch of this bloated, dyslexic handheld? I don't, chances are you don't, and even Sony themselves couldn't care less.
"Whoa, hang on a minute! 'Sif Sony doesn't care about their console" I hear the fanboys cry all the way from PSP.MMGN.COM already. If they cared so much, why are they boycotting three of Australia's largest retailers?
Why are they using Vodafone, one of Australia's most unreliable networks as a preferred partner? Sure, Vodafone might have splashed a whole bunch of cash their way for that title, but if Sony cared, they wouldn't settle for anything less than the best.
If Sony aren't willing to distribute their product to three of Australia's biggest retailers, and they are locking in deals with one of Australia's worst telecommunications companies, then what faith do I, a loyal consumer have in their product?
Sure, the 3DS may have started off slowly and lacked some features at launch - aka a functioning store, but it's certainly caught up steam now.
Will Sony overtake that? NOT A CHANCE.
Families want a 3DS, children want a 3DS, I want a 3DS, I don't hear many people being genuinely excited for the PS Vita.
Families want an iPad, an iPhone, an iPod or to a certain extent, Android devices.
It's time for Sony to realise that the PS Vita was dead before it even left their office.
