The 'Explorer Edition' was quite costly at AU$209, I found the contents of the 'Special Edition' packaging unnecessary for those not really interested in spending many hours in online multi-player. Had they omitted those DLC vouchers, it may have lowered the price of the premium cost.
The side insertion of the game disc on the case was also one of the most frustrating and impractical to ever grace a special packaging. It more likely belongs to some sort of Media Kit rather than the public. The physical contents were of good quality, not the absolute best I've ever had and Nathan Drake isn't exactly the most convincing looking model molded for a statue. I was also expecting the chest to be a little bigger, but I believe they've done great job with it.
The 'US Collector's Edition' was a much cheaper collector's edition weighing in at US$99. The Artifact box is made of cardboard with a magnetic door to keep it closed. The make is exceptional for the price you pay and is also presented elegantly. The de-bossed Steelbook case is a special touch and very well sought after edition with it's unique design. It includes the same exact physical contents as the 'Explorer Edition' such as the necklace ring, belt buckle and Nate statue. Though this edition came with much lesser DLC voucher [which was a pre-order bonus instead with many variants spread out among a number of retailers in the US.
Both editions have their pro's, but it's the price that can help lean towards one edition if one can is only able to choose one [and perhaps ease of obtaining either one].
Thanks for looking/reading.
That.
Is.
All.

No Ducks were harmed during the photo-shoot and no whales beached during the unboxing either. ;) These shots were taken in front of a live public ocean view. [MOG]
