On a plane back to Melbourne with no wi-fi, with a drink on the tray table. A perfect time to rant about the new MacBooks.
I've been a Mac convert for a while now. I love Apple's simplistic, easy-to-use interface, and the shiny silver laptop that I can pull out in a cafe or meetings. It makes me feel special, like I belong in a little club with all the other hipster hackers.
My current laptop is a late-2008 MacBook. It later branded itself as the MacBook Pro, aluminium uni Body version. This little core duo soldier served me well; together we travelled continents and climbed mountains...well...not really, but at least Diablo 3 works OK.
I was trilled to hear rumors that new MacBooks will be launching at WWDC in early-June, since dual boot into Windows is very sluggish, and my battery died from constant power starvation. The spacebar key is kinda sticky, but it's not what you think... @iamtom spilled a full cup of beer on it, and I am very surprised that it still works well. That's a different story for another day. (NOTE TO SELF: Do a blog on how to remove a full cup of beer from a laptop).
WWDC was held yesterday. Apple announced a new 15" retina display MacBook Pro, and pretty much nothing else, which I am quite puzzled about. Why didn't they release an entire new line with this amazing new tech? Nice thin design, using ivy bridge, retina display and awesome new fan and battery? Instead, they bumped MacBook Air and the same MacBooks that they've been selling since 2008. I want to see 11-inch and 13-inch sexier versions.

As a tech/hacker/designer wannabe, I use 72pixels / inch for web development, which has been the industry standard we've used since the day web zero. Everything is pixel precise, and graphics appear the same for all computers. Apple came along and said, "Nope, stuff all the sites. We are going to make the internet (noticed the small i?) and go nonstandard..." Today at an Apple Store, seeing the new retina display on the MacBook Pro was cool. It has a sharper image, beautiful fonts etc.. Then I went onto MMGN.com, and all the icons are blurry. Upscaled to a non-standard dpi from the traditional dpi that we've deved on for years! The same happens across all the normal sites that we go on day-to-day. Why do upped graphics make the sites look ugly!?

At the Apple Store on the new retina Mac, I opened Photoshop. Then I realized, "I can't photoshop on 72dpi!" At this point I have no idea what resolution I am on. So I started a blank canvas at 800x600 at 72dpi...
wtfjackiechan.jpg?? My eyes were killing me trying to use photoshop on that screen. How do I move a pixel to the right? This is a game ender there!

And 15-inch is too large (that's what she said?) a screen.

So I end up buying the bumped Macbook Air. I'll probably bitch about it next week though.
Okkay, my drink is almost empty... So if tl;dr
1- Apple, Y U NO do sexfy laptop on 11-inch and 13-inch?
2- Our site looks bad on upscaled / stretched graphics on the retina display.
3- Y U NO 72dpi? Pixel counters like me can't hack it
4- I need another drink
