Hello MMGN. Recently I've been playing around with a little program called Pokemon Online, not a very new program, a lot of have probably seen it, used it, or do so regularly. But basically, I am going to be running a Pokemon Tournament for MMGN and streaming it, anyone can enter, you don't need a DS, or any of those other things people can apparently use to play games or something I heard about one time.
How is this going to work?
- Anyone who wants to enter must PM me with their interest
- They must PM me their ideal playing time
- Depending on the number of people entered and average chosen time, I will draw up a ladder with a date
- There will be a thread posted with the final ladder and information once it is all sorted out
Battle Structure
- The battle will be one round.
- If you lose you're out.
- Basic elimination, we keep going until there's only one left
The Rules
We're going to be using a common set of rules for professional battles by Smogon.com which they call clauses. They are as follows.
Evasion Clause
Moves that boost evasion (i.e. Double Team and Minimize) are not allowed.
Freeze Clause
Two or more Pokemon per team cannot be frozen at any given time. (e.g. If one of your opponents Pokemon is frozen, you cannot freeze another until they are thawed out)
Sleep Clause
The sleep clause is essentially the same at the freeze clause, although self inflicted sleep does not count. e.g. If your opponent puts one of your Pokemon to sleep, using Rest straight after won't disqualify him
OHKO Clause
Just don't do it, not allowed. Banned. These are moves like Horn Drill and Fissure.
Species Clause
No two Pokemon of the same Pokedex number on any given team. e.g. You can't have two Blastoises, but you can have a Blastoise and Wartortle.
Self KO Clause
If any Pokemon KO's itself which in turns ends the match, that counts as a loss, so don't try and be sneaky and use a Selfdestruct for a last minute victory.
Item Clause
No two Pokemon on the same team can hold identical iteam. e.g. You can't give every Pokemon on your team Leftovers
Basic rules, simple enough to understand, right? Any further questions, just ask me, or ask someone in the comments. Now for some more information, we're using the stock standard list for banned Pokemon. Why are they banned? Because they can imbalance a battle greatly due to being overpowered or having airtight strategies. I'm going to be using the Smogon.com 5th Gen list of Ubers, so you might notice some changes if you're familiar with competitive battling.
