Here we are back again giving you an update covering all that is Minecraft. We take a look at everything that happens on the MMGN Minecraft server, sharing screen shots of the creative work done by members and what has been happening to the game while it’s still hovering around in beta mode. In this episode of MMGN MC updates we have a massive amount of screen shots to share with you both from Operation Hohville and of personal structures. There’s more details on the community projects, the first of many Minecraft competitions has commenced and a few tips on how to enjoy your time on the MMGN server, read on to find out more.
One nice aspect of the MMGN Minecraft community is team projects where a group of people get together and work on the one large scale goal. Everyone chips in with land clearing, donating supplies and building structures. There’s a couple of these community projects currently running right now and you are more than welcome to join in.
Project Underground Utopia
Project underground is starting to take shape, the ground has been cleared, mobs have been killed and they’re bound to be an ongoing problem until the place is fully lit up. Keep up to date or express your interest in this thread.
The area is located close to spawn, which makes it easier for everyone.
- Go to /spawn
- Walk the opposite way from the Train Station
- Keep going until you see a large cobblestone tower; head towards it.
- There should be an underground entrance, Go down it.
- At the first room go left
- Take the next flight of stairs downwards

Operation Hohville
With more and more new members signing up to MMGN and jumping onto the MMGN Server Hohville is starting to really populate with some cool buildings. Already there is way too much to post in this one article so I’ll keep the screen shots coming in each fortnight, if you have built something in Hohville and would like to show everyone please submit your screen shots here.

Summary I built a giant torch and named it "The Coal Cafe". It's basically a convenience store which sells a lot of natural goods. Instead of paying with items like iron, everything costs coal. We need coal to keep the torch running.

Minecraft Competition #1 - Animalz!
Like to play Minecraft? Like to win prizes? Like building creepy animals with weird faces?
If you answered 'yes' to the above, then get ready to enter MMGN's first Minecraft competition. The aim is simple: build the best animal. Using any resources you please, warp to 'competition' (/warp competition in chat) and start building!
To join in, you'll need to be whitelisted. If you're not already whitelisted, visit out server's forum page to find out how.
In this competition, we're only looking at the aesthetics of your animal. Building an intricate interior may be nice, but a small and simple construction can be just as effective.
Please respect the boundaries of the flatlands and don't build too big. Anyone caught destroying the area or anybody else's projects will be banned. To avoid this issue, please get an admin to protect your buildings if you're competing.
Prizes
First place: 32 diamond gems
Second place: 32 gold ingots
Third place: 64 iron ingots
Building must be finished by 7:30pm on Saturday. Uncompleted projects will be judged, though completion will be taken into account when deciding winners.

The MMGN Minecraft server resides in a humble server called the Gibson, I’m sure most of you would have heard of this server by now but for those that haven’t Harry has thrown together an
article giving a full rundown of the server. It covers everything from rules right through to how you can donate.
So far the new and improved Gibson MKII has been chugging along nicely and is now running the Bukkit mod. The server mods you can enjoy while on the Gibson are warps to specific locations (if set by admins), the /set home function that allows players to chose a location they wish to make their home and be able to instantly warp to that set location by typing /home in the game chat box. Another handy command is /who when typed into the game chat box it gives you a list of who is on the server at that given time. To save you guys from falling to a horrible death there is zero fall damage, just remember you still fall to your death when you get back into single player mode. The above mentioned commands and mods have been around for some time now but a recent addition has been added to the mix. If you ask one of the server admins nicely they now have the ability to password lock your storage chests, its crying shame that we’ve had to implement something like this but there has been one bad seed on the server that has been griefing other peoples valuables. One thing to keep in mind as well is the white list will be cleaned out periodically from members that have not signed in for some time, if you have been removed from the white list because of this simply request to be added back on in the server discussion thread.

Minecraft Updates
What we have to look forward to in the following update/s
- Wooden and cobble stone half blocks to add some more options for your designs.
- New save file format. With the new format, loading is now seven times faster. On top of that, the number of files for each saved world is drastically decreased. This new format will not destroy your current saves, as they will be converted the first time they are loaded.
- New Minecraft launcher. This is a great communication tool for us as we will be able to give you guys important information directly in the launcher.
- Various bug fixes!
- New block! This is a sweet one for you red stone junkies. A block that acts as a signal carrier, much like red stone. But on top of that, it also acts as a repeater AND a programmable delayer.
- Secret update! Oh, yes. There will be that as well.
